A WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT
President / Donations Liason
Chrissy Stimson

I drove my two daughters to the Wilga Street Pennant Hills Scout Hall in August 2007 for them to audition for SYMT’s High School Musical. They had been dancing for years and their dance teacher suggested they try to use these skills in a musical theatre production. They were both successful and cast in the dance ensemble for the November production at the Hornsby RSL. Harriet was 10, Matilda 12. This moment not only shaped their lives but also mine.I joined in by helping selling raffle tickets, applying eyeliner to the cast, gluing fake eyelashes, and being the registered nurse behind the stage. I was hooked. I wasn’t sure I liked musical theatre, but I loved SYMT and everything it brought.
My third daughter Bridget was only five so she came to every rehearsal, every bump in/bump out and every performance the girls were in – which was many. They made lifelong friends.
Matilda in particular made a great friend with a boy around the same age, and then 5 years later, they started dating. Then another 5 years, they married, and now have two boys together. There have been many SYMT love stories! In 2010, I joined the SYMT Committee and then in 2012, I became the President of SYMT. I still hold that position today with great honour. I am so proud of where SYMT has come and thank the past and current committee for their commitment to promoting musical theatre for youth.
